This Major Research Paper examines why Korean international students are choosing to study abroad in Canada, through a critical internet discourse analysis of educational marketing material via the internet space. By critically evaluating online educational marketing material from websites, blogs, online forums and other internet mediums, this paper examines how Korean international students are seeking specific cosmopolitan elements within higher education that challenge traditionally upheld western narratives. This paper further explores how these specific elements are being propagated within the internet space, suggesting a shift within the global imaginary regarding the ‘value’ of higher education and studying abroad.
