This research intends to provide insight into the active role of men in their clothing choices; more specifically to explore young men’s relationship with their clothing and a look into self- expression through clothing, and communication of the self. To answer the question of: how do young men ages 19-25 years old communicate narrative, individuality and identity, through intention and performance of clothing? Using a mixed methods approach through questionnaire and a semi-structured interview offering males a safe place to talk about their fashion and clothing choices. The results of this study suggest that men play an active role in their clothing choices. Clothing habits are scattered and highly dependent on situations, dress codes, or expectations thus differing based on personal preference and values. Men communicate narrative individuality and construct identity differently, as their influences and values dictate preferences.
