This thesis outlines best practices for video artists to document their careers and achievements, while organizing and preserving their life’s work so that it remains accessible long after their death. In it, I provide guidelines for video artists, whether amateur or established, to document their careers and achievements. I will address issues specific to the preservation needs of videotape and digital media, and offer guidance to video artists on how to prepare their estate. While thinking about death is difficult for anyone, artists can ensure that their work and creative legacy endures by following the advice offered here.
