This research explores the complexities of mothers’ experiences after their sons have been charged for gender-based crimes. Highlighting the immense pressures that we, as a society, place on mothers, this work will invite mothers to share about their own experiences and feelings following their son’s arrest, as well as their feelings about themselves as mothers. Drawing on intersectional feminism, Critical Anti-Racist Theory and transformative justice, this MRP is an act of resistance against the violence of the state, the criminalization of racialized communities and the blame and silencing of women.
