<p>The U.S.-Mexico border has been a topic of discussion prior to the Trump administration. Efforts to curb illegal migration from Mexico have been previously attempted in earlier Presidencies. However, unlike earlier Presidencies, President Trump has become a fixation in American media due to his outlandish nature and abrasive, racist, comments about immigrants. One of Trump’s many rallying cries is centred around creating a border-wall between U.S. and Mexico as a method of keeping out illegal migrants and other, ‘bad hombres.’1 However, Trump’s fanaticism and the American media’s obsession with it obscures the deep-seated issues at the U.S.-Mexico border which predate the current President.
