The creative arts industries have gone through tremendous change over the past decade since modern technology has advanced, and the music industry is at the forefront of this. The evolution from traditional music to the digitalization of music has revolutionized the entire concept of listening to music and working in the field. The use of social media has modified the way artists find fame and how they are being discovered. In recent years, TikTok, a video-based social media platform, has shifted the industry by creating a space to allow more diversity, authenticity, and creativity, at the same time as creating a space for artists to be self-made. This research will elaborate on TikTok's user behavior, social motivation, influencer culture, user-generated content, and trend culture in order to differentiate it from other music-dominated platforms. By dissecting studies based on the TikTok effect, the digitalization of music, YouTube's influence, music marketing, and viral content, this Major Research Paper will shed light on the advancement of the music industry and what we can expect from musicians and listeners on social media in the coming years.
