As technology and social media platforms consume traditional social spaces regularly found in the built world, a deficit of Third Space is developing. When communities become reliant on devices to communicate, those users lose the social security once provided by a built space. Architects may ameliorate this deficit through integrating digital systems within their designs. With personal devices becoming wayfinding, program defining, and space crafting tools, perceptions of space have expanded beyond physical barriers. This augmentation of digital spaces in the built world may provide opportunities for communities to generate a long-lasting sense of place.
