Punctum is a zine created for this Major Research Project (MRP) that explores how queerness is experienced and translated through the fashion image, and how the documentation of these images is a vital way for queer narratives to be conveyed through the medium of photography. This research project situates itself mainly within theoretical frameworks related to desire, abjection, literary fragmentation, and psychoanalysis, and uses both arts-based and practice-led research methods to question how the intersection of these theories can be used to engage queer experiences. Through creating and collaging queer coded images alongside poetic text, this MRP reveals themes of queer horizons, the centrality of desire and abjection to queer experiences, literary fragmentation as a queer method of expression, and the importance of documenting queer narratives in order to fully portray our life stories.
