It All Started at Seneca Towers: Video, Guerilla Television and Portable Channel

This thesis provides a finding aid for the paper and photographic materials related to Portable Channel (1970 1989) held at Visual Studies Workshop (VSW). Consisting of over 900 negatives, 200 photographs, and hundreds of paper documents and ephemera, this collection adorns the Portable Channel tape collection, which is housed VSW's moving image archive. The thesis is two-fold: the finding aid and spreadsheets will provide paths for further research into Portable Channel's history and early video, while the major research paper (MRP) will address Guerilla Television and Portable Channel's position in the movement.
