This thesis establishes a general furniture folding methodology that can be applied to aircraft cabin interiors. The furniture folding methodology enables a user to choose a furniture piece and increase its functionality with minimum effort, while including a process to quantify the transformation. The thesis introduces two design concepts based on the folding methodology called Open-on-Demand and Reconfiguration. These furniture folding concepts allow a passenger to customize their travel experience by modifying the otherwise rigid cabin environment to their liking. The thesis also includes a visualization of the two design concepts to highlight the advantages of using multifunctional space-saving techniques on an aircraft. While the proposed furniture folding methodology is aimed at furniture pieces within a business jet, it has the versatility to be adapted to any furniture piece positioned any environment.
