Architecture is in Drag when it imitates architecture. It is a performance identifying, challenging and innovating upon what an architect understands architecture to be. It is not a doctrine, but rather it is an exploration of architectural possibilities. It is a process that analyzes the epistemology informing architectural knowledge, in comparison to the epistemology of drag. It begins with the architect identifying their understandings of architecture. Next, similar understandings are found within drag performances. How a drag performer challenges these shared understandings inspires an architectural performance of these understandings. As a drag performer, the goal of an architect is to eliminate the epistemological ground their understandings rest upon. Ultimately, this is an intention to eliminate binary thought from architecture. This thesis documents my performance to exemplify a methodology that challenges creative boundaries.
