Analysis of Secondary Suites in the Greater Toronto Area

The proposed paper was to conduct a comprehensive review and analysis for the current state of secondary suites in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The GTA is comprised of 25 municipalities, however those with the highest populations will be selected for the analysis. As a result, the municipalities that will be assessed includes Toronto, Brampton, Mississauga, Markham, and Vaughan. Additionally, Caledon will also be examined throughout this paper regardless of their small population in comparison to other municipalities in the GTA Coupling quantitative data for each municipality with information gathered throughout the qualitative methods helped generate linkages for how regulations, policies and programs affect secondary suites both positively and/or negatively. Following the detailed analysis conclusions were drawn and recommendations were developed.
