The lack of an official archival presence of queer people has been a significant historical gap. How was queer culture preserved? And what constitutes lesbian culture in Canada, specifically? Where did it exist? This article follows the filmmakers attempts to locate lesbian culture in Canada through a variety of means, inclduing archives, and to document this culture especially as it emerged in the bar scene in major Canadian cities in the 1950s-70s. The article connects the filmmakers' project to larger issues of queer invisbility.
