Stargate

<p dir="ltr">A remix of the famous Stargate sequence of Stanley Kubrick's <i>2001 A Space Odyssey</i>, as my personal 2010 A Splice Odyssey.</p><p dir="ltr">It is entirely made with stills of a 16 mm film dump, reworked with the same effects as Kubrick used. The sound is from the original film, with some small changes. By the end of David's travel through celluloid space, he lands in a digital screen on Dundas Square (Toronto) that announces "movies" - as from now only in this future dimension, the universe of 16 mm definitely relegated to a distant past and another universe all together.</p><p dir="ltr">This film was made as part of my PhD Thesis titled "Afterimage and Afterthoughts about the Afterlife of Film: A Memory of Resistance" (Concordia University, 2010).</p>
