This video is made with one continuous shot of light (the sky) reflected on a water surface (the sea) that gradually transforms from a rather busy to a more contemplative state.

The title Egyptian Blue refers to the pigment used in ancient Egypt, an intense blue (very similar to the intense blue of the water in this shot, especially towards the end). Egyptian Blue was used to symbolize both water and the sky, life and the return of life.

The sound of the piece is composed with electronic readings of the moving light patches in the images that were interpreted by various computer programs. Interesting enough the newly composed artificial soundtrack fits the water shot very well, as if it always belonged to this image.

The sound was composed by New Media artist Daffyd Hughes.
