[para. 1]: "Company, from late Latin companio, one who breaks bread with you, is a word Robert Creeley used often in conversation and writing. He invoked humane warmth of feeling, especially at the end of his "Autobiography," where, in reflecting on the beloved writers he had known in his rich and turbulent life, he attests, simply, "One had the company" (Clark 144)."
