Other creatures grow their clothing on their individual bodies; scales, or bristles, fur or feathers—they have but one suit, self-replenished. They may clean it perhaps, but cannot change it—save … the chameleon. The human animal shows in its clothing as conspicuously as in many other ways, the peculiar power of extra-physical expression.
