[para. 1]: "The early 2020s have been unprecedented years—a global pandemic, economic turmoil, armed conflict, climate change, and, of course, significant issues related to social justice. Accordingly, researchers more than ever are asking specific questions about social justice-related issues connected to equity, diversity, and inclusion of those who are so often marginalized by those who hold economic, political, and social power. Data information professionals, therefore, are required to provide relevant sources of information that would support the changing landscape of research questions they are receiving. As the nature of data information professionalship is shifting to answer these often-complex questions, it becomes increasingly apparent that there is a lack of data sources available that may inform research on matters of social justice. For example, when looking for data on racialized peoples, the operationalization of related variables has changed significantly over time, so retrospective analysis can be challenging."
